just bought the latest release on nurture yesterday. not sure if many people
have heard of this new zealand label but it certainly is up there with involve
in terms of quality. nurture however has a different approach on their music
and all releases are vinyl only too. you might not know that you've already
heard one of the tracks off an earlier release, its the peak:shift remix of
wedding song by aspen (off his debut 'album'). oh yeah - if you hadn't
figured from the tracklisting on 'album', it is wrong and the peak:shift remix
is the housey one.
anyway, this release is one i've been waiting on for ages, its their fourth
release and is by micronism. although all four tracks are off the cd 'inside
a quiet mind' on kog transmissions from 1998, that doesn't matter as it was
definitely my favourite cd that year. the best track off that cd
'constructing space' is one of the tracks that has been included on this
record. yay for that, this is probably the one that most djs would want to
own and is easily my favourite electronic track to come out of new zealand.
anyway, all tracks have a really nice melodic approach with definitely
individual minimal techno style rhythms, i love it.
it would be interesting to hear what other people outside of nz think of
nurture. maybe someone could even give a decent description of it unlike my
lame attempt.
dave.
np: bad company - inside the machine (hmmm....)
